Sunnyside

Initially, Sunnyside was established by a large population of Italian vegetable farmers and is one of Denver’s original neighborhoods. Residents of the neighborhood can still enjoy the yield of the abundant fruit trees in the area.

Historic charm with urban convenience, mature tree-lined streets and modest yet historic architecture of Denver squares, bungalows, Tudors and new urban lofts make this neighborhood a gem.

44th and Zuni St. is quickly becoming a service, retail and restaurant corner but if you can’t find what you need there, Sunnyside is conveniently situated near major consumer areas like Highlands, Berkeley and Downtown Denver.

Once east of Navajo St  the neighborhood becomes predominately industrial and will soon be home to a new Light Rail Station, slated for 2016, connecting the city and suburbs from Wheat Ridge and Arvada to Longmont and Boulder.

Six parks, Willis Case Golf Course, pop-up urban gardens, major Denver bike routes connecting anywhere in the City, nearby farmer’s market and the Sunnyside Music Festival command Sunnyside as a destination neighborhood.

Lifestyle Highlights

Sunnyside Music Festival – Originating in the backyard of a Sunnyside resident in 2000, it has become a major annual event for the North Denver neighborhoods.

Bonacquisti Wine Company – One of Denver’s few urban wineries, winemaker Paul Bonacquisti will always invite you in for a tasting of his current batch even if he’s not open for business that day.

Buchi Cafe Cubano – The best Cuban experience in Denver. Buchi serves traditional Cuban coffee, pressed sandwiches and a full bar menu.

Universal Cafe – New to the neighborhood the Universal is crushing it. Serving up Southern inspired breakfast and lunch and with a full bar. Open from 7am – 2:30pm and closed on Mondays.

Paxia– Offering a sophisticated approach to very authentic Mexican cuisine, full bar and great patio for soaking up the sun and perhaps a little Tequilla from their extensive list.

Pochito’s Tortilla Factory – A true local favorite and hard to find market unless you live here. Stop in for fresh, handmade tortillas, fresh salsas or Denver’s best tamales.

Diz’s Daisies – Neighborhood flower shop with friendly staff, great prices and online service serving Denver since 1993.

“I moved here four years ago and was trying to afford my first home. Sunnyside was the right neighborhood for house hunting. I found the perfect home and since then have become more involved and appreciate the diversity of the community. I love how close it is to Downtown.

Michael S4 year resident of Sunnyside
